Last summer, God changed my heart. I was on my second mission trip to Diosd, Hungary to work with the Paulus Movement, and from my first days there, God moved in me. I had a love for the Hungarian church body that I cannot really explain. When we worked with kids who didn’t know Jesus, I was struck with the desire to show them His love. I especially connected with the girls in the youth group at Paulus. I hung out with them, laughed with them, loved on them. God opened up doors for deep and personal conversations that would typically take years of friendship to reach. There was no awkwardness, and the Lord literally gave me the words to say. This love for these people was not something I was expecting, but God opened my eyes to His love for them. He truly changed my heart, taking away my “five year plan” and replacing it with a need to return to Diosd. God taught me a small extent of what His love for these people looks like, His desperate desire for them to know His salvation. When we got back to the States, I began talking with my missions pastor, Jimbo, about the possibility of my returning to Diosd for the summer of 2011. Jimbo worked with Paulus to figure out if this could even be a possibility, and then eight months later, I received the official confirmation email! For eight weeks this summer, I will be interning with the Paulus Movement in Diosd, Hungary. I will be working with the church, with the youth group, and with the youth and adult teams that my church, Mountain Brook Community Church, will be sending in July.
God is always doing incredible things and I cannot wait to have Him work in and through me this summer. I have been asked to set a fundraising goal of $5000. I will be leaving in late May, so I have a very limited amount of time to raise that amount of money. I know the economy is in a hard place right now, but any money that you could use to support me and the work God has set out for me would be helpful. With your financial support, you are in essence sending me on this mission. Anything that you could send to me would be very helpful and much appreciated. I know that God will provide, and if you are able to be His vessel in this, thank you.
This trip desperately needs to be covered in prayer. I ask that you would commit to praying for me, that God would use me as His hands and feet. Please pray that His will is accomplished in an obvious way and that He would be glorified above all else so that people may know Him more. Please pray for the hearts of the Hungarians who I will come in contact with. Please pray for me, for my safety, that my heart will seek Jesus first and that I will learn to love as He does. God is honored by the prayers of His people and desires to prove Himself as faithful; through our prayer we are able to recognize our need and watch His work!
As I receive more details, I will be updating my blog for the summer, sbinhungary.blogspot.com. If you are able to support me financially, please leave a comment!
For His glory,
Sara Beth
